The Diana Children’s Community Service at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for their patients. The Service consists of Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and Nursing Associates and provides care and support for children with acute, complex, palliative and long-term conditions, as well as their families, requiring special nursing care in a community setting.
Emma Gilbert, Team Leader, explains why the team are such worthy winners,
“The Diana Service has never stopped being patient facing even during the pandemic. Our HCW’s and nurses provided respite for children with complex, acute care in the home never stopped preventing hospital admissions and our training and special school nurses continued to support schools all over the city and county for those children with additional needs. The whole team did this with a positive approach and a smile on their faces even though every environment they went into was different.
“They whole heartedly have the patient at the centre of their care and always put them before themselves. The Diana Children’s Community Service Team deserves this Cavell Star Award due to the outstanding care they provide on a day to day basis, their is not one member of the team that doesn’t deserve this award.”
