Nenen Silvano, a nurse from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients. Colleague and Trainee Nursing Associate Emma Grange explains why Nenen is such a worthy winner,
“Nenen is a fantastic Nurse and an absolute delight to work with and learn from, she deals with all her patients with a kindness and sense of compassion that just can’t be taught, it’s something that flows through her. Not only does Nenen show her patients amazing compassion and a friendly welcoming approach, she extends that to her colleagues and friends around her and is one to go to for any support or an amazing shoulder rub during a long day.
“Students and new staff equally adore Nenen and love to be taught by her with her wealth of experience and skills. The standards that Nenen works to are extremely high to ensure that she gives great consistent care to every patient she comes across. Nenen also has adopted the title of “SuperNen” by colleagues as she truly is a super person to be around and is the most dependable person I have met.”
Nenen reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award,
“I have been nursing for 30 years and I still love every minute. My love is bedside nursing and caring for the patients in a holistic manner, every little thing really makes a difference to the patients experience. I was over the moon with my nomination, its really hard to put into words but I am so happy to be recognised by my colleagues.
“My team is my family, we work so closely together each day and its so important to work together so that work doesn’t feel like work, its an adventure and I know that I can rely on my team at any point through-out the day, from the day to day to the emergency situations, my team are with me always.”
