Oncology Practice Development Nurse Hollie Murphy from LloydsPharmacy Clinical Homecare has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Colleague and Lead Cancer Nurse Natalie Bingham explained why Hollie was such a worthy winner,
“Hollie is a dedicated oncology practice development nurse, working to support and develop oncology nurses who work remotely in the community. She has introduced numerous initiatives to help support the nurses and the patients. She rolled out the triage tool so that nurses could safely assess their patients, she has worked cross functions to provide support and training to departments outside of nursing and outside her role. Furthermore, Hollie has streamlined documentation to reduce nursing workload, enabling them to focus on their 121 care with their patients.
“Whilst doing this, she also supports her colleagues on a regular basis with operational challenges – therefore they wish to nominate her for this prestigious award to recognise her hard work and dedication.”
Hollie reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award,
“I was overwhelmed and it was totally unexpected, I am over the moon to have just been nominated. I couldn’t do anything that I do without my colleagues so this is a team award.
“I love being an Oncology Practice Development Nurse, it enables me to provide extensive and high level training and education to ensure that our nurses are compliant with their practice. It allows me to constantly evolve the way the oncology team works and broadens nurses knowledge and outlooks, whilst offering constant support and mentoring.
“My colleagues are my heroes, we all work together to achieve the common goal which is to provide exceptional patient care. My direct colleagues but also the wider teams that I work with are all experts in their field and I couldn’t do my job without them.”
