Proactive Care Lead Nurse Mary Brammah from Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Colleague and Director of Nursing Andrea Parkin explains why Mary is such a worthy winner.
“Mary has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, compassion, and professionalism in her role. She supports all the staff, in their roles across nursing in the Community. Mary will regularly go the extra mile to explain treatment plans in a reassuring and accessible way, or simply offering a kind word when it’s needed most, to patients and staff.
“Mary exemplifies what it means to provide patient-centred care. She has the ability to build trusting relationships, advocate for patients’ needs, and bring calm and confidence to challenging situations has made a meaningful difference to countless individuals and their families.
“Since stepping into this role Mary has used her initiative her contacts to add value to support the coordinators and nursing team release time to care. Mary’s actions reflect the very best of nursing and deserve recognition.”
Mary reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award.
“I’m just doing the job that I love, so I was absolutely overwhelmed and honoured that my colleague put me forward for the award.
“I find it difficult to put into words how hard working, dedicated, caring and compassionate the people I work with are. They are an amazing team of people that not only support our patients but each other as well. The term ‘work family’ fits them perfectly.”
