Nurse and Clinical Team Lead Katie Grant from Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Head of Service Nicola Zurawliw explains why Katie is a deserving winner.
“Katie is an exceptional leader who is passionate and has demonstrated professional growth in the last few years, which has taken her from an emerging leader to one that is flourishing.
“Most recently Katie has stepped in to cover a clinical District Nurse vacancy whilst still delivering her clinical lead duties and juggling many different priorities from operational leadership challenges, safer staffing challenges, patient demand, staff wellbeing support and staff operational leadership. She is very dedicated and ensures that patients receive the optimal care that they require, and that they are robustly assessment, and have the most appropriate care and treatment.
“Katie has continued to perform exceptionally and despite juggling competing demands, she still finds time to plan wellbeing events, staff meetings, staff learning events and developing the service. Her dedication to patients, staff and the service she leads needs recognising and she is deserving of this recognition and award.”

I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such an amazing clinical and leadership team who have all pulled together while I’ve been covering two roles, ensuring everything continues to move forward. Working with such dedicated and supportive people makes even the most challenging times so much easier.”
