Abi Alexander, a Macmillan Clinical Team Lead and Nurse Specialist from Lincolnshire Community Health Services, has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Colleague and Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist Natalie Herring explains why Abi is such a worthy winner.
“Abi is a strong leader and also a good listener. She represents the teams views and concerns and will challenge directives if she does not feel this would be to the benefit of the team or patients. Abi is passionate about our team and its development but also about delivering quality palliative care across Lincolnshire.
“Abi and Rosie our other CTL have recently designed a PILOT specialist palliative care response intervention team. Abi strives to drive specialist palliative care forward, which is challenging in a Rural and Coastal county due to deprivation and geography.
“She champions our team regularly and so myself and the team wish to nominate her for the Cavell Star Award to share our respect and admiration for the job she is doing and to let her know it is appreciated.”
Abi reacted to winning her award.
“I’m not often left speechless, but receiving this Cavell Star Award left me with no words. I am humbled to have been nominated by the team. I am fortune to work with such an amazing, dedicated team of clinicians, it’s an honour to lead them and I couldn’t do my job without them. I am so lucky to work with them.”
