Community Midwife Asma Rabab from University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Midwife Team Lead and colleague Stephanie Taylor explains why Asma is such a worthy winner,
“Asma manages a busy caseload of patients but always finds time to be available to give support and advice to her colleagues, whether it’s IT, clinical decision making or pastoral care.
“She has an infectious positive personality and introduced ‘star of the month’ nominations within the team to boost morale which was so valuable especially during a particularly challenging time. More recently, Asma took the lead in re-locating one of our antenatal caseloads due to emergency circumstances and at short notice while her Team Lead was on leave. Her communication, organisation and hard work meant that all women were able to have their antenatal appointments with minimal interruption and the team were clear about what was required.
“Asma absolutely deserves a Cavell Star for her passion and dedication in her role, we are so lucky to have Asma as part of our team!”
Asma reacted to wining her award,
“It was an absolute privilege to receive a Cavell Star Award. I feel honoured that my team recognise the care and compassion and support that I provide on a daily basis. Having worked in the team for over 12 years I can say we are not just a midwifery team, we are a family and we strive to uplift each other to provide the best care to women and their families. I love my job and I can’t imagine doing anything different!”
