Lead Nurse Carol Chambers from Belfast Health & Social Care Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Sheelagh O’Connor, Senior Manager for Nursing Education, Regulation and Informatics, explains why Carol is such a worthy winner.
“When she enters a room, Carol has the ability to brighten everyone’s day! She is a passionate nurse educationalist, who inspires her team and others to develop within their nursing role and strive to deliver safe, effective healthcare to patients.
“Carol is dedicated to supporting others in need and has led on numerous fundraising activities raising thousands of pounds for many charities, including Cavell.
“Joy at work is engrained in Carol’s DNA! Whilst she leads a team, she ensure an open and listening staff environment, promoting wellbeing and recognising staff contribution across teams. Her team events are legendary and within the directorate Carol is known as the Chief Entertainment Officer (CEO).”
Carol reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award,
“It is an honour to be nominated and a privilege to recognised, especially by the people I work with, it’s amazing! I could not organise the coffee mornings, fundraising events or any other excuse for buns without the whole team pitching in.
“We spend so much time at work and with this group of people, care, compassion, support and a sense of humour is essential. A bit of craic never fails! My team and my colleagues make work a joyful place for me.”
