Ward sister Cath Roberts from The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Colleague Sophie Podmore explained why Cath was such a deserving winner.
“Sister Cath is the heart of Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries. I have been an HCA at MCSI for 6 years and 5 of those years Sister Cath has been my manager. She is continuously supportive of her staff and patients and she understands that staff are human and have lives outside of work which has created a huge respect for her position and herself as a person.
“Sister Cath has incredible knowledge of her profession of which she strives to share with staff and students. I’ve had the privilege to work under Sister Cath Roberts with many patients, she handles medical emergencies with complete control and professionalism.
“She has a way of making patients feel comfortable and recently we had a patient with learning disabilities who created a real bond with Cath. She ensured his needs were met above the call of duty and went above and beyond to explain every situation to make him feel safe!”
