Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner and nurse Daisy Pierce from University Hospitals Leicester has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Felix Hay, colleague and Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner explains why Daisy deserves to be celebrated.
“Daisy works incredibly hard for the Children’s Emergency Department (CED). She has an incredible work ethic and goes above and beyond for her colleagues and her patients. She is humble and grateful and always sees the best in people. She is liked across all the staff groups in our MDT. Not only does she work hard to ensure that the children and their families are well taken care of, she takes care of her colleagues in the paediatric advanced practice team by being the best social secretary organising great team get togethers and keeping everybody’s spirits high.
“Without any encouragement externally Daisy decided to raise money for the CED by training for and running a marathon! She raised thousands of pounds which provided much needed IT resource for the betterment of both he children and staff in the CED. She does not ever celebrate herself or her achievements. She is a shining example of hard work and care for all. Daisy is an invaluable asset to the team in CED and deserves recognition for the work and positivity she brings to the department.”
Daisy reacted to receiving her Cavell Star Award.
“Being recognised by my colleagues for the work I do is humbling. I really did not expect anything like this! I love the job I do and making a difference to the patients I care for. I will continue to go above and beyond for them their families, the department and my team”
