Lead Nurse Dani Nebres from King’s College Hospital NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for his colleagues.
Colleague and Nurse Team Leader Amelia Te explains why Dani deserves his award.
“Dani was approached by a colleague to assist with a drive to collect expired medical kits that could still be used in war-torn Ukraine. Through Dani’s leadership, approximately eight boxes of medical supplies—items that would have otherwise gone to waste—were gathered and delivered to a charity organisation, to be sent to Ukraine to support those in desperate need of medical care.
“Dani’s dedication to helping colleagues and those affected by conflict, his ability to mobilise others to act, and his proactive approach in helping out on any urgent requests from colleagues who are in need make him a standout candidate for the Cavell Star Award. This particular work he has had a direct impact on the lives of many and exemplifies the values of compassion, service and community care.”
Dani reacted to winning his Cavell Star Award.
“It’s really humbling, being recognised by the people I work alongside every day means a lot. It’s a reminder that supporting each other, even in small ways, makes a big difference. I feel proud and grateful to be part of such a thoughtful and hardworking team.
“We support each other, we learn from one another, and together we create a safe, caring space for the people who take part in research. None of it would be possible without that shared commitment.”
