Lead Cancer Nurse Helen has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist and colleague Alison Taylor explained why Helen was nominated,
“Helen is always there for the CNS teams, she supports the nurses professionally and emotionally. She ensures frequent, high level protected clinical supervision time for staff. Her door is always open for staff support. She pushes the team to ensure they are the best they can be and is an excellent leader. Without her the CNS team and cancer patients would not get the same level of excellent care.
“Helen’s way of working is inspiring, she is kind, caring, compassionate, fair and embodies everything that a nurse should be. Without her strong, fair leadership the Countess of Chester cancer care would not be of such a high standard.
“I feel her care and support for the cancer nurses is worthy of recognition with the honour of a Cavell Star Award for all she does, and how she goes above and beyond to support nurse.”
