Ward Manager Helen Eynon has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients. Colleague and Deputy Head of Nursing Lisa Graham explains why Helen is a worthy winner,
“Helen is the ward manager of a 30 bedded gastroenterology ward at Singleton Hospital. Helen and her team have faced some of the most challenging times over recent months.
“Helen has shown great leadership as she has seamlessly navigated the complexities that this brings, influencing her team to come with her. She has stepped up to every situation that has been thrown at her proving time after time that standards of care are not compromised.
“During this time Helen has put on bake sales supporting Macmillan cancer charity, she coordinated the Mr X Christmas appeal within the hospital, which provided many Christmas presents for underprivileged children within south Wales. She has arranged walks after work for colleagues to destress and socialise with each other, she has done all this out of kindness for others.
“I feel that she is completely deserving of this award as she is such a hardworking authentic Nurse who leads her team with compassion and pride this recognition will be a reminder to her of how amazing she really is even when times maybe challenging.”
