Clinical Support Worker Ikakke Thompson from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for his patients.
Colleague Afolabi Omosola explains why Ikakke is such a deserving winner.
“Ikakke is a clinical support worker, however, he goes above and beyond his usual duties to look after the patients as a hairdresser and barber as well. For those patients who need their hair braiding and plaiting, he has been doing that for them too and Ikakke uses his own professional equipment. I believe Ikakke needs to be celebrate and recognised for showing care and love for our patients in this way.”
Ikakke reacted to winning his award.
“Being recognised by my colleagues with a Cavell Star Award is incredibly humbling and emotional. It means the world to me that the care, compassion and commitment I bring to my patients has been seen and appreciated. Supporting people through their most vulnerable moments is something I do with love and purpose, and to be honoured for that reminds me why I chose this path. It’s not just an award, it’s a reminder that every small act of kindness truly matters. Knowing that my team values my contribution fills me with pride and motivates me to continue giving my best every day.
