Jan, a nurse from The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Lead Nurse for Education Donna Clark explains why Jan is such a worthy winner.
“For 25 years, Jan has served as an education link now named ‘SaTH education champion’ going above and beyond to provide students with the best possible clinical learning experiences. Jan’s attitude—that the role of a nurse is inseparable from the responsibility to educate and support the future workforce—has shaped a legacy of outstanding education practice that will continue for years to come.
“Jan has navigated the highs, lows, and challenges of nursing with unwavering dedication, always keeping the patient at the heart of high-quality care. At the same time, they’ve ensured that students receive the guidance they need to thrive in the demanding environment of critical care. Jan is not only a skilled practitioner but also a compassionate educator, supervisor and assessor who inspires those around them to excel.
“Known for her caring, compassionate, open and friendly demeanour, Jan epitomises what the Cavell Star Awards stand for, as she retires, her presence will undoubtedly be deeply missed by both patients students and colleagues.
