Celebrating Jane and Margaret

Head of Safeguarding Jane Jones and Chief Nurse Margaret Williams have won Cavell Star Awards for going above and beyond for their colleagues.

Colleague and Interim Designated Nurse for Adult Safeguarding Emma O’Kane explained why Jane and Margaret are worthy winners,

“They are truly inspirational leaders who go ‘above and beyond’ for their colleagues whilst recognising the importance of leading and supporting colleagues to ensure that they too can give the very best of themselves to others.

“Jane and Margaret are staunch advocates of self-care, they have a strong focus on the health and well-being of the team, ensuring regular independent supervision, team welfare checks and flexibility of work-life balance.

“Jane and Margaret actively encourage personal and professional development, encouraging the team to have contact shifts with third sector and voluntary agencies to bring us ‘back to basics’ by focussing on the great work we have done and have yet to do, to support some of the most vulnerable people in our population. Their approach really does build up the confidence of practitioners to get out of our comfort zones and believe in our own abilities and whilst maintaining a clear leadership role and giving us the permission to manage our work-streams autonomously.

“They are always approachable, caring, empathetic, supportive and honest. They lead by example and are the first ones to roll up their sleeves and get on with the task in hand.

“They are always keen to celebrate our successes and certainly makes sure everyone else knows too!

“We have no idea how Jane  and Margaret find the time to be everything to everyone, but without a doubt, they are inspirational, exceptional role models, exceptional leaders, hugely respected by our team and we feel incredibly lucky to be part of their team!”
