Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice Jenni Trett from East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Nurse and Clinical Trauma Coordinator Claire Wright explains why Jenni is such a deserving winner.
“Jenni is an incredibly strong and dedicated individual, wholly committed to her work, her patients, and the values of nursing. She is conscientious, honest, and disciplined, both in her professional responsibilities and in her everyday life. Her approach to patient care is always thoughtful and meticulous, ensuring that every person in her care feels safe, respected, and genuinely cared for.
“In my 34 years as a nurse, I have rarely seen the level of passion for nursing that Jenni possesses. She has a true calling for this profession — a deep, unwavering thirst for caring. Jenni goes above and beyond for her patients every single day, never seeking recognition, only striving to make a meaningful difference.
“Patients frequently express how safe and reassured they feel in her care — and I can say, without hesitation, that Jenni is someone I would want looking after my own family.
“Jenni is an exceptional nurse, a valued member of the team, and a truly inspiring individual. She embodies the spirit of the Cavell Star Award in every sense and is thoroughly deserving of this recognition.”
Jenni responded to winning her award.
“Feeling honoured to receive my award is an understatement. While it has my name on it, this recognition truly belongs to my entire team. They are the ones who inspire me every day. Their unwavering support and shared commitment to our patients is what makes it possible for me to do what I do. When they tell me, they would want me as their nurse, I feel so touched, because I know they are the reason I can be that nurse.
“My team means everything to me. We stand together, driven by the same passion for what we all believe in – making our patients’ journeys safe and effective. When we do that, we make our jobs more rewarding. Tough times are had, but knowing that my team are they for a hug or chat makes each day a little easier.”
