Community Clinical Nurse Practitioner Josephine Roberts from Gyffin Medical Centre in Conwy has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Colleague and Primary Care Lead Nurse Frances Baverstock from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board explains why Josephine is such a deserving winner.
“Josephine supports people who are housebound or have difficulty getting into the practice and she strives to provide the highest of care to all of her patients, especially those who are palliative. She is highly respected by her team and gives 100% all of the time.
“Josie founded a project for hospital equipment that was needed in a rural area of Zambia and went above and beyond in support of collecting equipment, such as medical beds, defibrillators, scrubs, baby resuscitator, curtains, clothing and PPE, which would have been thrown away if not collected.
“All of the vision and hard work came from Josie. Not only does she make a difference every day to her patients in Conwy, she’s also made a huge impact on people in Zambia. I am humbled to work with Josie, and am so proud to nominate her for this award.”
Josephine reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award.
“Being recognised by my colleagues is incredibly humbling. I never come to work expecting recognition but simply to try my best for my patients every day and support my team and vice versa.
“To know that my colleagues see and value that effort means more than I can put into words. I share this recognition with the whole team, as everything I do is supported by the people I work alongside.
“My nursing team means every thing to me, they are a constant source of support, strength and inspiration, we lift each other up on difficult days and celebrate the good moments and learn from each other. Knowing I can rely on my team and that we all share the same commitment to our patients makes even the hardest days manageable. I ‘am truly grateful and privileged to work alongside such dedicated, compassionate and knowledgeable people.”
