Celebrating Judith, Christine and Elaine

Three Primary Care Nurses from Rochdale Health Alliance have won Cavell Star Awards for going above and beyond for their patients and colleagues.

Judith Charlton, Christine O’Neill, and Elaine Stone were nominated by colleagues Rachel Crookes and Sarah Whittaker. They explained why the nursing team deserved their recognition.

“Elaine and I work for the Homeless Alliance Response Team” explains Rachel “which Elaine helped to set up when it was a voluntary service. She would often work when nobody else could, attending to people’s wounds, ensuring that they received antibiotics, and nagging them just enough to ensure that they would return to see her, so that she could review the treatment commenced. Elaine will do anything to help a person in need out, and even those who aren’t. Elaine is kind, thoughtful, generous and caring.”

“Judith has dedicated over 50 years to her nursing career in the NHS” says Sarah “She is passionate about making a real difference to her patients’ experiences and the care they receive. Her knowledge and vast past nursing experience allow her to shape and individualise patient care. Every patient she meets is made to feel special and well cared for. Judith allows patients to feel listened to and their care is shaped to meet their individual needs.”

And Sarah explains why Christine is also a worthy Cavell Star Award winner, “Christine’s career has been varied and has included both work within the hospital and the community setting as a nurse and midwife. She has lots of time for patients, their families and care home staff alike. Her approach to her work is that of true dedication and passion. Christine is a real inspiration to have within our nursing team and she inspires the many students that visit and work within the team.”
