Nurse and Clinical Educator Kate Simpson from Sciensus has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Practice Development Nurse and colleagues Helen Adshead explains why Kate is such a worthy winner.
“Kate is an outstanding nurse who consistently goes above and beyond her role to make a lasting difference to patients, colleagues, and the wider profession. She creates safe learning spaces where staff can reflect, ask questions, and learn without fear of judgment. Her calm, compassionate presence has often been the reassurance colleagues need during difficult clinical or emotional situations.
“Kate has taken the lead in championing the Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) programme within our organisation. She has not only completed her own training but is actively encouraging others to take part, helping embed restorative supervision and wellbeing support across nursing teams. Thanks to her drive and leadership, more nurses now feel empowered to look after themselves and each other, improving both staff morale and patient care.
“Kate is incredibly humble and never one to shout about her own successes, but I like to make sure she does. She gives so much to others, often without realising the profound impact she has.
