Celebrating Katherine

Katherine Clayton, a Specialist Enhanced Support Service Nurse from HMP & YOI Swinfen Hall has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.

Colleague and Deputy Service & Quality Lead Sarah Pritchard explains why Katherine won her award,

“Kate has been able to develop a number of systems within the Enhanced Support Service, the team will have a conversation about an idea and within hours Kate has interpreted the idea and developed relevant forms, systems, and corresponding paperwork.

“Clinically Kate is able to engage the most treatment resistant individual’s, using creative activities. Beyond Kate’s role which is significant, she also provides much needed LLD support to the wider prison. Kate brings so much to her role and the team have recently described her as the ‘Enhanced’ in the service title ‘Enhanced Support Service’.

“Kate has also been asked at short notice to complete information, posters and link with other services to offer advice. This is all above and beyond her own role. Kate manages this well, without allowing these activities to take over her role, or to take too much time, which the service does not have spare.”

Katherine reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award,

““I was really flattered to have received an award and taken aback by the kindness of my nominators. I feel extremely valued by my team and recognised for my hard work. I am lucky to come to work with such a supportive team”
