Celebrating Laura

Healthcare assistant Laura Surtees has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Rachael Craggs, Ward Sister and colleague of Laura’s at Sunderland Royal Hospital explains why the award was presented,

“Laura is exceptional at providing all patient care ensuring all patients are clean, comfortable and feel they are truly being cared for. Laura is not only caring, compassionate and kind she is a valued member of the team, going above and beyond not just for patients but her colleagues. In her own time she has made toiletry bags for all patients who are unable to have visitors as well as pamper packages for all her colleagues with inspiring and positive quotes to keep us all feeling uplifted during the Covid-19 crisis. Laura is not only a wonderful health care assistant, she is a wonderland person and I want to nominate her for this award so she knows how truly valued she really is.”
