Ward manager Lisa Jones from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Vascular Advanced nurse practitioner and colleague Claire Berry explains why Lisa is a worthy winner of her award,
“Lisa’s commitment to her team goes above and beyond every day. She always treats everyone compassionately, will go out of her way to help and address team problems, will change rotas to accommodate last minute concerns, often doing extra shifts herself so the ward team do not go short or to help out staff requests. During the recent pandemic Lisa moved out of her family home so she could be nearer work, did many extra shifts to cover gaps, stayed late, ensured her team were supported both physically and emotionally .
“Recently the ward team relocated sites, with most staff opting to move, stating they wanted to as Lisa was the best ward manager and they wanted to support her as she supports them.
“Lisa believes in treating everyone fairly, helping all staff to develop, thus enabling staff to work to the best of their ability and creating a great working environment.”
