Healthcare assistant Matt Wright from Northampton General Hospital has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for his patients.
Colleague and trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner Vicki Moore explains why Matt is a worthy winner,
“Matt is one of the most amazing people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. From his care and support, he has the most wonderful manner when talking to our patients. He makes sure that they are listened to and respects their dignity, enabling patients to talk to him and develop a relationship for their rehabilitation to continue, from basic hygiene needs like ensuring that the gentlemen are able to have a shave.
“His ease of communication with relatives provides reassurance that their loved one is cared for, he does this from his own experience and this shows. His care and compassion for the patients but also with the nursing and wider MDT team is shown on every shift he works.
“Matt deserves this recognition for all the work he does and will do in the future. He is so generous with his time for others. I hope that this award will go some way to show he is appreciated for all that he does.”
