Clinical Nurse Manager and Educator in General Practice Naomi Berry from New Otley Road Medical Practice has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Primary Care Nursing Lead Louise Brady from NHS England explains why Naomi is such a worthy winner,
“Naomi has undertaken an incredible personal and professional journey in the few years, from developing Health Care Assistants to becoming a Lead Nurse in her Practice, fostering nurturing and supporting our next generation of primary care nurses. In the last 18 months she has supported over 30 students into the general practice training programme and the positive feedback from students and Nurse Colleagues alike has been formidable.
“She is incredibly industrious, and produces regular digital case studies for new to nursing colleagues via social media platforms, going above and beyond often in her own, time to ensure robust face to face support and supervision for junior colleagues. In addition to her Registered Nursing Duties, Naomi has taken the time to support students with neurodiversity and functional skills and is an advocate and an educator in sign language and for those students with hearing and visual impairments.
“Naomi is an inspirational nursing leader, and has gone above and beyond to support colleagues in Diabetes Care, Cervical Screening and addressing the social determinants of health in addressing mental health and wellbeing relationships for new to practice teams.”
Naomi reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award,
“I was having such a tough week before the award, you know those weeks where you doubt yourself? This highlighted that what I am doing across my team and to social media platforms is helping and that I am making the right changes. It is rewarding to see the changes that patients make and building relationships to enable them to improve their own conditions.
“My nursing team are all amazing, they have all supported me more than they know! Seeing positive impact really makes you smile – knowing you have helped to mould them and support them in reaching their goals!”
