Research midwife Patricia Amos from Leicester Royal Infirmary has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients over her long career so far. Colleague and Research and development midwife Magdalena Kierzenkowska explains why Patricia is such a worth winner,
“As a experienced community midwife she has provided women and their families with ante-natal and post-natal care for many years. To develop her practice and to provide women with the best care she worked in research one day a week. She played in an active part in the Baby Biome study recruiting women and babies, collecting their biological samples. The purpose of this study was to find out if the type of delivery affected the gut biome and if this in turn this had any long term impact on baby’s health eg; Asthma, Hypertension and Obesity. The research Midwife team would like to present Patricia with the Cavell Star Award to acknowledge the care that she has given to women and their babies over the years going above and beyond.”
