Sharon Tallis, Lead Nurse for Clinical Retention and Recruitment at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues.
Practice Development Nurse and colleague Juliah Galliers explained why Sharon deserved her award.
“Sharon has worked hard making staff feel recognised and valued, which in turn has them build their careers and helps staff to develop a sense of true belonging within GEH NHS Trust. She is passionate about creating awareness of the Professional Nurse Advocate role which aims at supporting staff wellbeing through restorative clinical supervision, promoting self- care and reaching out for support.
“Sharon listens to the challenges experienced by staff as well as to their accounts of successes and joy. Recently a member of staff was in distress and when Sharon was contacted, she stopped what was doing and immediately came to meet them, sitting with them, listening to them and signposting them on to seek help.
“She always wears a big smile, is visible , approachable and always ready to help and listen.”
Sharon reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award.
“I felt very privileged and honoured to have been nominated for a Cavell Star Award and was in complete shock. Thank you to my team!”
