Head of Nursing Sue Mason and Leanne Small, a Specialist Pneumonia Intervention Nurse – both from Glenfield Hospital – are winners of Cavell Star Awards.
Sue and Leanne were nominated by their team for the awards for going above and beyond for their colleagues and patients. Padma Parthasarathy, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and colleague, explains,
“As a Head of Nursing, Sue always has been truly inspirational manager to her team and so passionate about what she does. She always goes above and beyond for her team members to get the best out of them. Sue pursues excellence in whatever she does.
“She has always been there for her team when they needed her, whether it was a personal or professional problem.
“Sue encourages and supports her colleagues in finding the solutions themselves which brings out their hidden talents. Sue is very supportive of her team members’ personal and professional development and never fails to recognise and give credit for their achievement which encourages the team to achieve more. Sue always inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more through her actions. She is the best manager I have ever worked with.”
“Leanne is so passionate about her role as a Specialist Pneumonia Interventional Nurse. She always dreams about doing more for her patients. Leanne volunteered to work as part of the ‘Acute Respiratory Response Team’ which was formed as a response of COVID-19 emergency in her service.
“She rose to the challenge of looking after a large number of very unwell COVID-19 patients and supporting the nursing staff in caring for these patients. She showed exceptional care and compassion. She went above and beyond to ensure these extremely unwell patients received the care what they deserved. Leanne is very caring, dependable, extremely professional & truly exceptional at her job.”
