The Specialist Palliative Nurse Team from the Care Plus Group has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for their patients.
Colleague Hayley Wrightam explains why the team are worthy of their award.
“The Palliative Team are wonderful. This is not just a job to them, they go above and beyond with their care and empathy. I have worked in the NHS for 15 years and I have never worked along side a team with such compassion and kindness who fight for these patients.
“More than anything these nurses work really closely as a team and support each other at very difficult times. We get endless cards and donations for these ladies, thanking them for all the incredible work they do. I know they are appreciated but i felt it important to go one step further and show just how appreciated they are.”
Jo Smalley, Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and part of the team from Care Plus Group reacted to winning the Cavell Star Award.
“The team feels very grateful and humbled to have been recognised and receive this award. It certainly put a smile on our faces! We love the difference we can make every day to the patients, families and their wider support network we have the privilege of caring for. Our team is a ‘work family’, we all look after each other in complex situations. The role we do is at times challenging and emotional and it’s made easier by sharing this with colleagues.”
