Healthcare assistant Tracy Snipp has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her colleagues for her contribution and leadership of the HCA Joy in Work Quality Improvement project at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
Tracy aptly received her Cavell Star on Nursing Support Workers Day, 23rd November 2021, the second year that the awareness raising day has been held spotlighting the important work nursing support workers do across all care settings.
Senior Quality Improvement Lead and colleague Catriona Stapleton explains why Tracy is such a worth winner,
“I nominated Tracy because she is a very humble and passionate healthcare assistant who strives every day to do her utmost for her patients and ensure that HCAs and the wider team work well together.
“She has been the first HCA to lead a QI project in the Trust which is amazing, and through their project they have raised the number of staff reporting that they find joy in their daily work from 40% to 90%.
“I feel inspired working with her, and she has motivated so many HCAs to believe in themselves and make a real difference.”
Tracy reacted to winning her Cavell Star Award,
“I’m overwhelmed, I’m absolutely over the moon! I’m so lucky to have this opportunity – it’s an honour to be able to help give healthcare assistants and nursing associates a voice and showcase the great work my wonderful colleagues do.”
