Zoe Allen, Community nurse and Quality Lead from Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Colleague and Quality Lead Sophie Allkins explains why Zoe deserves her award,
“Zoe goes above and beyond for her patients in various different ways. When she completed a night shift and a palliative patient had ran out of medication in the night, she drove and called multiple out of hours services to try and get the patient their medication and stay 3 hours over her shift into the next day so she could drive and pick them up for a vulnerable patient to ensure they had them before she finished.
“Another example would be prioritising patient care when ever staff are stuck with a poorly patient she gets in her car and goes straight to them, she supports the staff and ensuring staff are safe and patients are receiving the highest standard of care.
“Zoe is continuously going above and beyond for her patients and their families, particularly for patients coming to the end of their lives. She is so thorough in her assessment and nothing is ever too much. Staff know her as being approachable and kind. I believe Zoe should be recognised for all her hard work and commitment to her patients over the last 9 years, she is destined to do exceptional things. She is one of a kind and i am honoured to work along side her and see her shape the future of community nursing.”
