Give Up to Give Hope

Put a freeze on a luxury treat this December to raise money to help nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants facing financial hardship.

An estimated 178,000 nursing professionals will give up precious time with loved ones to work on Christmas Day to provide care and compassion to patients also unable to celebrate with family this Christmas.

That’s why we’ve set the challenge for you to give up something special in the weeks leading up to Christmas to show your support and raise vital money to help those nursing professionals when they need help.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust provides emotional support and financial grants to UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants when a crisis hits and they face financial hardship. With your help, we can continue to provide rapid help and ensure our precious healthcare workers can get back on their feet and back doing the job they love.

How to take part

Step 1
Choose something challenging to give up

Step 2
Sign up to create your fundraising page

Step 3
Tell everyone about your challenge and ask for their support!
Alternatively, donate the money you will save from giving up your luxury item.

“Thank you so much for your kindness during these difficult times. It was greatly appreciated not just by me, but by my family also. You went above and beyond and it’s with heartfelt thanks that I send this email to you.”

From a nurse helped in February 2021.

What will you give up?

Freeze that habit or luxury between the 1st and 24th of December, then celebrate your amazing achievement on Christmas Day.

Here’s a list of ideas to get you going, but the best choice is something you and your friends know you will find it hard to do without!

  • Takeaways
  • Chocolate bars
  • Beer and wine
  • Swearing
  • Coffee
  • Biscuits and Sweets
  • Alternatively, donate the money you can save from not doing a Secret Santa or Christmas Cards at work
  • Or simply donate the cash you save from giving up your luxury treat

By taking part in this challenge and raising money, you will be giving hope to UK nursing and midwifery professionals facing a financial crisis right now.

Your support will offer them a way through the darkness and alleviate some of the worry, stress and anxiety connected to financial hardship and help them back to their feet.
