Thornbury Nursing Services and the Scottish Nursing Guild – Campaign Friend

In October, the hugely popular #10kForNurses fundraising campaign returns! This inspires the nursing world to do 10k in any way they want and is set to raise life changing funds for nurses in hardship. This year, we are thrilled to announce that Thornbury Nursing Services and the Scottish Nursing Guild have joined #10kForNurses team as a Campaign Friend.

This means they’re standing up for nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants across the UK who may be facing hardships like mental and physical ill-health, domestic abuse, homelessness and financial difficulties.

We chatted to Sara James, Chief Operating Officer, to find out more about the team and why they have boldly joined the 2019 #10kForNurses movement.

Thornbury Nursing Services and the Scottish Nursing work with NHS and private hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland:

“Our nurses provide exceptional services, and we pay exceptional rates in return, as well as reimbursing travel and toll costs, covering NMC fees, training courses and a free annual flu vaccine. Nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants dedicate their lives to being there for us, our families and loved ones. The least we can do is support them during their own hardships and that is our motivation”

The team have been proud supporters of Cavell Nurses’ Trust since 2017.

“In that time, we have seen first-hand the incredible difference this charity makes to the lives of nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants who need support in a time of need”.

And, this isn’t the first time the Thornbury Nursing Services and Scottish Nursing Guild have been a part of #10kForNurses! Last year, a phenomenal staff team joined 100 trekkers for the first ever #10kForNurses epic Snowdon challenge. They faced driving rain and very strong winds as they trekked through Storm Callum to raise vital funds for nursing professionals in crisis. Will the team return to conquer Snowdon again this year?

“Absolutely! Even extreme weather conditions didn’t deter the team, we’re already signed up for this year’s event where you’ll see us battling Snowdon once again! We are most looking forward to seeing the difference our fundraising will make to individual lives”
