From the beginning to the end of our lives, nurses and midwives are there for us all.

Whether they supported a family member, helped you during birth, or provided comfort at the end of a loved one’s life, we all have a reason to be thankful for nurses and midwives. However, people often forget that they need help sometimes, too.

If you had to think of one reason that you personally care about nurses or midwives, what would you say?

This month, Cavell is asking everyone to #ShowYouCare by leaving a donation and a statement about why you care, letting nursing and midwifery staff know they are appreciated more than they realise.

Cavell is the charity that is here for nursing and midwifery staff when they are going through tough times. Cavell gives emotional support for those in crisis, referrals to specialist services, one-off grants, and rapid emergency funding for those at great risk.

And demand for our support remains higher than ever. High basic living costs continue to cause problems for people, and on top of this, life throws unexpected challenges such as illness, disability, domestic abuse, and more, leading to personal and financial hardship.

80% of people Cavell supports are working nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants, so it’s vital we are here to support them so that they can continue to care for the nation.

As a charity we can help the nursing and midwifery family, but we can’t do it alone; the support we offer is funded by generous individuals and organisations who kindly donate. That’s why throughout May, we are asking everyone to #ShowYouCare.

It’s International Day of the Midwife on the 5th of May, and International Nurses’ Day on the 12th of May, so it is the perfect month to honour and celebrate these professions.

In addition to donating here, you can spread awareness by posting your message of support on social media using the hashtag #ShowYouCare – and don’t forget to tag @CavellCharity. Thank you for helping Cavell to ensure UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants remain here for all of us.
