Still on track

After weeks of lockdown, of limited travel and exercise, it has been exciting to work with Jason Rawles at Aspire Adventures to plan the Cavell Nurses’ Trust Snowdon Challenge on 10th October. Dreaming of the mountain air, spending time with inspiring hikers, and conquering this epic mountain has kept us going on long days stuck inside.

The decision to go ahead with the Snowdon Challenge is subject to government permissions and you can view our cancellation policy here.

Right now though, we are still committed to delivering a safe and fun experience. This decision has been made with caution and serious consideration of how to deliver a safe and socially distanced hike, if this is still required at the time.

Our friends at Aspire Adventures have worked hard to consider how registrants can be welcomed and briefed safely and how their guides will be protected and equipped.

Inspiring Snowdon fundraisers raised over £20,000 last year to support nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants facing a personal or financial crisis. They conquered the mountain – a once in a lifetime achievement for some who have never climbed a mountain before – and they conquered their fears too!

Without a doubt conquering a mountain can be daunting, and there is uncertainty around what it will involve:  Am I be fit enough? What kit will I need? Could I get lost or injured? How do I get there? Where might I stay? Add in a global pandemic and you have the recipe for a lot of anxiety. But “Challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” – Joshua J. Marine.

We take these anxieties seriously, and that’s why Jason Rawles from Aspire Adventures has set up a series of Zoom calls where he can answer your questions, get to know you and explain the training and equipment that will be required. You are also able to contact us at Cavell Nurses’ Trust at fundraising@cavellnursestrust.org and we will be happy to answer your questions.

For anyone who has signed up, or is interested in signing up, there are Zoom sessions on:

Thursday 18th June at 7pm

Thursday 13th August at 7pm

For registered participants there will be calls on:

Thursday 17th September at 7pm

Thursday 1st October at 7pm

The team at Cavell have been fortunate to run the event for a number of years now but this year more than ever we look forward to enjoying the views, the mountain air and the profound sense of freedom from embracing the mountain.
